Singapore does not have enough land to build a network of drains, canals, and rivers that channel rain water to reserviors in Singapore. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Yes, increasing catchment areas will not only help to increase the amount of rainwater collected in a country, but also help to keep the cost of water treatment down. This is because rainwater is much cleaner than used water and does not contain salt unlike sea water. Hence, it is easier and less costly to purify.
As a small island that doesn't have natural aquifers and lakes and with little land to collect rainwater, Singapore needs to maximise whatever water it can harvest. A pervasive network of drains, canals and rivers channels rainwater to Singapore's 15 reservoirs.

ReplyDeletelocal water catchment in Singapore will be increased to two thirds
ReplyDeletei would agree with metis, singapore is damn small

ReplyDeletebut still no rain how??!! no water then the drain so dry ppl fell into it then how????
ReplyDeletein 2011, marina, punggol and serangoon reservoirs will be completed
ReplyDeleteso the conclusion is, more catchment=less land, but more water...haiz...why is singapore so small???
ReplyDelete._. drain so small, how can fall in?
ReplyDeleteEven if harvest, how much can we harvest. You think Singapore got some super deep ocean???
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous.

but with more drains, if got a lot of rain, more water would be collected and it would minmise the chance of a heavy flood.
ReplyDeleteno rain how?
ReplyDeleteI think eveyone just try to conserve water and dont anyhow waste water, Singapore will not be water-less
ReplyDeletebut with more drains, theere would be less place for anything else
ReplyDeleterain rain come again
ReplyDeletego away another day
Even if Singapore is water-less, they can buy water from Malaysia, etc!
ReplyDeleteno rain then got newater and the other two taps that i cant remember wad...
ReplyDeletewho is the annoynomous anyway? i damn curious, donno why

ReplyDeleteya but still got the newater and the other one wad
ReplyDeleteWe need not only buy from Malaysia. There may be other countries that are much more than willing to sell us their water in trade for our resources
ReplyDeletei think 3 taps without the one from malaysia would be enough for spore's population if we know how to conserve and save them
