  3. No. NEWater only provide Singapore with 15% of the whole Singapore water supply, so its not enough. It is also expensive as it uses advanced membrane technologies.

  18. Debbie, we cannot always depend on other countries for water.

  19. Reclaimed water (NEWater):
    Advantages...
Treated used water is purified using adranled membrane technologies. NEWater passed more than 30000 tests and surpass World Health Organisation requirements. Membranes are now much cheaper to afford and also Singapore has sufficient technological equiptments to treat the water. The NEWater meets 5 percent of Singapore's need for water.
    Disadvantages...
Some people do not accept reclaimed water, because they think it is rather revolting.Lots of electrcity is required to work the machines and also increases the cost of maintaining the conditions of the machines and purchasin more of them.

  23. Yeah, true. It isn't a commodity yet, it may, soon.

  24. But then we must built a lot of NEWater factories and Singapore not enough land and $$$

  30. Costly, and only a pathetic 15% of whole Singapore water supply, but whatever, we get fresh water :D

I assume the world has a much better resource of water much more land to build water cachement areas. Hence relying on other countries may not be a bad idea.. Not bad ayee

  39. Money is not a problem for singapore based on how much it has right now which is a thrillion?

    ReplyDelete
  40. It may be a solution to our water problem but if we can save more water, there shouldnt be any problem to the water treatment. Save water, save money.
